About the Role
The Superintendent Asset Analysis & Modelling reports to the Manager Asset Health and Performance, with the core responsibility of providing insightful high level analysis and modelling across any asset related topic required by the business. This includes ad-hoc analyses as required by various departments across the business, and proactive self-initiated analysis that identify significant issues to be communicated to the senior leadership team.
The role manages a small multidisciplinary team of experienced personnel across a variety of key functions, especially asset management specialists and data engineers. In addition to leading this complex and technically demanding analysis function, a core function is to communicate the outcomes clearly and effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders – from site engineers to the metals leadership team.
The Superintendent Asset Analysis & Modelling also leads the development of various systems and models that support ongoing visibility and decision making for core operational functions. This includes implementing the underlying modelling framework, and data system architecture. The Superintendent Asset Analysis & Modelling will demonstrate expert level competency in SQL, Python and Excel, and develop novel solutions as well as integrating with other systems & modelling solutions. Engaging with the various stakeholder department representatives to understand pain points and working collaboratively to develop solutions that address these pain points is another core function of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation, implementation and monitoring of models and reporting, ensuring these meet the needs of end users.
- Continuous, proactive improvement of the various models through investigative analysis and modelling
- Meeting with the stakeholders to demonstrate improved functionality of the various models and understand their future modelling needs
- Manage the development of the new Fixed Plant delay accounting & telemetry system (HDVS), listening to stakeholder feature requests and working with a third-party developer to implement these features.
- Collect, structure and analyse cross-functional data, including but not limited to maintenance data, delay data, performance data at both a low and high level
- Engage with a wide range of stakeholders including Fixed Plant, HME & Rail to solve their complex analytics problems, including:
- Building models using a range of tools including python, Snowflake/SQL, excel to analyse past performance and predict future performance
- Deploy and assist in the deployment of business systems and processes to address day-to-day operational needs using advanced analytics solutions
- Provide leadership in data collection, structure and analysis techniques both internally to the team and to the wider business
Qualifications and Experience
- Mechanical, Process or Electrical Engineering degree or similar
- Strong proficiency with SQL/Snowflake and Python is essential
- 5+ Year(s) experience within Mining or Fixed Plant Ore Processing environment with maintenance or reliability roles (essential), ideally with on-site operational experience
- Experience with SCADA and timeseries historians desirable
- Experience with SAP CMMS or similar desirable
- Experience with high-level system & platform architecture within the AWS ecosystem desirable
- Demonstrated high level teamwork and communication skills
- Experience communicating complex analysis results simply to senior leaders
- Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety and Environment is essential.
