We are seeking an engaging, people focused Superintendent Maintenance Planning & Engineering to join our Maintenance Planning & Engineering (MP&E) team, to be based at our Hope Downs 1 iron ore operations.
This role presents a fantastic opportunity to draw on your people leadership skills, harnessed with your deep Asset Management knowledge, to positively develop your team and support the heavy mobile equipment (HME) and fixed plant maintenance teams on their transformation journey, whilst driving psychological safety leadership excellence and positive team culture. You'll be leading an engaged and capable team of engineers, planners and a maintenance improvement specialist responsible for implementing our reliability, defect elimination and maintenance planning & scheduling processes.
Your demonstrated ability to engage, connect and positively influence will prove valuable to the effectiveness of this role; as you will be the primary business interface between site operations and the MP&E teams.
Reporting to the Regional Manager – Maintenance Planning & Engineering, you will:
- Be a valued partner of Hope Downs One’s operational and maintenance execution teams
- Actively engage and influence the wider maintenance and operations teams to improve the site’s safety, cost and production outcomes whilst ensuring longer term reliability and integrity
- Widely engage and interface at all levels from general manager to supervisor level
- Collaborate and partner with our extensive supporting functions to ensure asset management leading practice is implemented and sustained at the operations
- Coordinate asset management improvement activities
- Coordinate the maintenance budget process and deliver accurate long term plans/ forecasts and reliability improvement plans
- Champion the site’s reliability and operational control functions
- Actively contribute to the team’s development whilst utilising the RTIO asset management excellence development programs

About you
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Be an engaging leader who can engage, influence, coach and motivate both your immediate team but also your wider stakeholder group
- Be resilient, proactive and pragmatic with the ability to drive progress and change within a dynamic environment
- Have a sound understanding of asset management with a solid understanding of maintenance work management, reliability and maintenance budgeting and cost control
- Previous experience as a maintenance superintendent, planning superintendent or reliability superintendent will be highly beneficial
- Hold a relevant Engineering or trade qualification (or transferrable skillset from another industry)
- Have leadership experience and be confident in leading, developing and coaching team members

Located 50km north-west of Newman, Hope Downs is a joint venture managed and operated by Rio Tinto, working in conjunction with nearby site Hope Downs 1. Hope Downs 4 provides excellent career growth and opportunities and the village provides excellent facilities for its FIFO workers.
