About the Role
Provide essential aviation safety and compliance oversight on BHP WA Nickel West (NiW) aviation operations in accordance with BHP’s Aviation Our Requirements, Flight Safety Foundation’s Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) and BHP NiWs Aviation Management Procedure.
Your portfolio will include two aerodromes, Leinster and Mt Keith, and contract owner for local bussing contractor in line with BHP Contractor Management Framework.
Position Focus
Provide aviation oversight to BHP Nickel West aerodromes, including (but not limited to) ensuring:
- Aviation Operation management for Leinster and Mt Keith Airports
- Aviation Operations are conducted in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Regulations under the Civil Aviation Act
- Aerodrome Operations are conducted in accordance to CASA Manual of Standards Part 139
- Effective aerodrome Safety Management System (SMS) meetings
- Effective Aerodrome Emergency Planning
- Aerodrome safeguarding
- Identifying and initiating aerodrome capital projects and maintenance requirements
- Review and guidance on documentation required for Certified aerodrome operations
- Risk Management for aviation activities within NiW including execution of BHP Aviation Governance Framework
- Operational management of disruptions to scheduled air-transport activity including after-hours support to aerodrome and logistics teams
- Task review and approval for all routine, routine ad-hoc and non-routine aviation activities.
- Peer review of, and input into, aviation related projects and associated documentation to ensure integrity with respect to aviation industry safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Conduct aviation-focused compliance audits.
- Control Owner for Bus Transport under NPI in Leinster
- Coordinate with site teams to ensure efficient logistical services are provided with safety and scheduling optimisation.
- Monitor contractor adherence to NiW standards, procedure and policies
About You
Aerodrome Reporting Officer certification
- Aviation Supervisor experience
- Flight Radio Telephone Operators course
- Ability to pass security background checks for aerodrome security compliance
- Aviation Lead Audit or Experience
- Bus compliance experience
Skills:
- Team oriented
- Able to multi-task and function safely whilst under pressure
- Attention to detail
- Well-developed written and verbal presentation skills
Experience:
- At least 4 years aviation industry experience and must have worked in the aviation sector for a minimum of 12 months within the last five years
- At least 2 years’ experience in aerodrome operations/compliance
- Flight operations management experience desirable
- Airline logistics/operational experience an advantage
- Bus management
