Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the manager – Maintenance, the Superintendent Underground Fixed Plant is responsible for leading and developing the fixed plant maintenance department to identify and implement strategies that provide safe, appropriate, professional, and cost-effective maintenance to ensure all business outcomes are achieved.
You will take an active leadership role in developing and coaching the fixed plant maintenance team ensuring they are competent and motivated to implement current systems. In addition, you will have a focus on continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive maintenance plan for underground Fixed Plant Maintenance (FPM) based on best practice philosophies and consistent with the Newcrest Work Management System.
- Setting appropriate maintenance strategies, ensuring all maintenance is planned, managed, and completed within budgets and schedules.
- Manage process for identifying and evaluating risks as part of the business planning process (Material Risk).
- Completion of month end reporting, cost forecasting, five-year plans and budgets to the required standard and agreed timelines.
- Ensuring measurable business improvement objectives are included in performance plans and processes are in place for acting on employees’ ideas.
The ideal candidate will be a safety leader and have significant experience in a supervisory role in a mine maintenance environment, including crushers, conveyors, de-watering, ventilation.
You will also possess the following:
- Qualification in Mechanical (Trade or Degree)
- Demonstrated success in leading a production-orientated group of maintenance and/or production personnel.
- Demonstrated experience in large scale materials handling systems underground.
- Sound understanding of large-scale conveyor change-outs.
