Superintendent Closure Planning

  • Lead a team responsible for strategic closure planning for our future and existing operations
  • Manage continuous improvement projects in areas such as landform design, risk management and stakeholder engagement
  • Perth CBD Location – Monday to Friday

About the role

We are seeking a highly adaptable and outcomes driven Superintendent Closure Planning to lead a diverse team in providing expert advice to the business on risks and opportunities as they relate to mine closure and rehabilitation.

With as-needed travel to our operations in the Pilbara and reporting to the Principal Closure Planning, you will:

  • Provide technical and functional leadership for a small team of closure planning specialists
  • Coordinate delivery of hub-scale closure planning requirements
  • Drive closure planning through the whole asset life cycle
  • Coordinate aspects of closure such as cost estimation and closure strategy development.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external standards for mine closure
  • Drive stakeholder engagement on closure

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Degree in Environmental / Biological Science or Engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstratable leadership experience
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Contractor management experience
  • Experience in site closure planning or rehabilitation / restoration
  • Stakeholder engagement experience
  • Excellent communication skills

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience supporting mine development or closure studies
  • Prior experience in R&D / improvement projects
  • GIS skills
  • Basic Vulcan skills

Where you’ll be working 

You will be Perth based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Central Park offices. The team actively encourages and supports flexible work. This includes workdays, hours and location, in addition to flexible and part-time work schedules. Occasional site travel will be required.
