About Mt Arthur Coal
New South Wales Energy Coal consists of the Mt Arthur Coal open-cut energy coal mine in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia. The site produces coal for international customers in the energy sector.
About the Role
As our Superintendent Coal Mining you will be responsible for leading a dynamic team of Coal Mining Supervisors and their large teams, to achieve a safe, on-time and within budget delivery of Coal Mining’s Production goals. Your key focus will be to safely improve coal quality and recovery in order to surpass current benchmarks, guiding this site to a world-class standard. You will develop and engage your people so that they share this goal and own initiatives designed to achieve it. You will build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and foster a continuous improvement culture by identifying opportunities for change and thinking outside the square.
This role is based at our Mt Arthur Mine Site and will be offered on a 5/2 residential basis in Muswellbrook or the surrounding region.
In this role you will
- Lead the increased focus on the ROM and coal, to improve coal recovery and quality, and general ROM management
- Accountability for safety, productivity, compliance and cost
- Managing performance outcomes for the team
- Resolving resourcing and scheduling issues to deliver the plan
- Providing input into all planning horizons;
- Contribute to the development of the weekly plan
- Identify performance enhancing initiatives
- Manage statutory obligations
- Analyse variances, trends, risks and opportunities across shifts, highlighting operational performance issues to management
- Contractor management; and
- Drive continuous improvement and challenge the status quo
About You
- Demonstrated capability in a large-scale open cut mining operation with extensive experience in Coal activities
- Coal-mining equipment practical experience
- Ability to manage a high intensity mining operation with multiple interactions with other processes
- Exposure to coal blending and ROM management
- Highly influential leadership skills and exceptional stakeholder engagement
- Ability to motivate, coach, lead change and develop established teams of experienced people
- An understanding of relevant statutory regulations
- A demonstrated ability in continuous improvements around Safety, Cost and Productivity
