About the role

There is currently an opportunity to join our Sustaining Capital Procurement Team in Perth working as a Contracts Superintendent - Rail . You will provide commercial and contract support and work collaboratively with procurement and sites to govern and optimising our service contracts within the Iron Ore operations.

Reporting to the Business Partner – Supply Chain Services you will be:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of Contracts Specialists
  • Providing sound commercial and contractual advice to the Project’s team to support them to successfully deliver their Capital project portfolio
  • Developing and executing strategies for claim resolution
  • Building strong relationships with project leads, engineers, site-based teams and other sustaining capital support services to upskill contractual knowledge and ensure decisions are made with the best commercial outcome in mind
  • Working closely with a variety of stakeholders across RTP and RTIO to identify synergies and develop value add opportunities
  • Utilising the Sustaining Capital SRM framework to enhance relationships with our Contractors
  • Visiting sites to understand the works under management and providing on the ground support
  • Contributing to the direction, development and strategy of the RTP Sustaining Capital team
  • Ensuring contracts are managed and reported consistently in accordance with Sustaining Capital requirements and Rio Tinto’s Policies, Standards and Guidelines
  • Demonstrating the application of Rio Tinto’s values of Courage, Care and Curiosity

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce/business/accounting
  • Experience in a Contract Management role
  • Problem solving, strategic and analytical capability
  • Verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to present updates to senior leaders
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage expectations
