About the role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Superintendent Drill and Blast to join our Paraburdoo Operations Leadership team.

This is a great opportunity for an engaging individual who has a passion for leading great teams, while promoting positive safety and people culture through visible and tangible leadership. Working on a 5:2:4:3 residential roster, this opportunity provides full relocation assistance and heavily subsidised housing and utilities. Reporting to the Manager Mine Operations and working in a challenging and exciting environment, within Paraburdoo Mine Operations department, you will be:

  • Oversee day-to-day Drill and Blast Operations across 3 active pits
  • Be responsible for the development of a strong safety culture ensuring adherence to all relevant statutory regulations and Rio Tinto Iron Ore standards and policies
  • An inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices and processes, whilst providing leadership, development and support to your team
  • Measure, record and analyse reporting on all drill and blast activities to consistently achieve plan and improve performance
  • Work collaboratively and foster relationships with other departments to achieve wider business objectives

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Experience working in Drill & Blast or Mine Production leadership role and be confident in effectively leading, mentoring and coaching team members as well as interfacing with senior leaders
  • Understanding of the mining industry from both an operational and technical perspective
  • Collaborative approach and positive attitude
  • Cost control management and budgeting experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple work priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Desirable to have an Unrestricted WA Quarry Manager certificate
  • A current valid driver's license

Where you will be working

Located 80km south west of Tom Price, Paraburdoo is a town nestled in some of the most scenic landscape in Western Australia. Paraburdoo is recognised for its beautiful scenery, wildlife diversity and close proximity to Karijini National Park. Paraburdoo prides itself on being a safe and friendly community; ideal for young families.
