We are looking for a Drill and Blast Superintendent to join our Greater Nammuldi Operations. This is a great opportunity for an engaging individual who has a passion for leading great teams, while promoting positive safety and people culture through visible and tangible leadership.

Reporting to the Manager Mine Operations and taking ownership of one of the biggest Drill and Blast teams in Rio Tinto Iron Ore, you will be:

  • An inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices and processes, whilst providing leadership, development and support to the drill and blast teams
  • Responsible for the development of a strong safety culture ensuring adherence to procedures for drill and blast operations
  • Ensuring compliance to site standards and legislation
  • Measuring, recording, analysing and reporting on all drill and blast activities to consistently achieve plan and improve performance
  • Working collaboratively and fostering relationships with other departments to achieve wider business objectives

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Proactive with a strong commitment in driving a safe working culture
  • Experience working in operational leadership roles and be confident in effectively leading, mentoring and coaching team members as well as interfacing with senior leaders
  • A desire to build and lead engaged teams
  • Demonstrated background in drill and blast operations, with strong technical skills in blasting is preferred
  • A current Australian C class driver's license

Where you’ll be working

Located 60km north-west of Tom Price, Brockman is wholly owned and operated by Rio Tinto. Opened in 2010, this open pit operation offers a family friendly fly in fly out roster with state-of-the-art camp facilities.

The Greater Brockman Operations consist of Brockman 2, Brockman 4, Nammuldi and Silvergrass. Driving the latest technological advancements, the open-pit mines offer an avenue for opportunity and career progression.
