About the role

We are seeking an engaging, safety focused leader to join our Electrical and Controls Systems team at the Dampier port. This opportunity is full of rewarding challenges and role diversity, where you will draw on your technical and people leadership skills to positively develop, mentor, and support your team.

Taking ownership of the Electrical & Controls Asset strategy at Dampier, you will enable your team to achieve safety, productivity & cost improvements across the critical port assets.

Reporting to the Manager Maintenance Planning and Engineering, you will:

  • Provide inspiring team leadership to oversee the practical application of technology to improve our operating practices and asset reliability
  • Build and maintain a strong technical competency pipeline within your team, providing a self-sufficient controls and electrical (C&E) escalation support service to the site
  • Ensure alignment of C&E asset strategy with key stakeholders within Operations, Maintenance and Operations Centre teams
  • Contribute to the development of a 5-10 year capital plan for C&E assets
  • Establish clear project & operational improvement priorities for your team to execute, based upon safety, productivity and cost objectives
  • Maintain healthy and frequent communications with Operations and Maintenance Superintendents, to maintain equipment reliability by the provision of swift and decisive technical support
  • Develop and maintain open communications on control & electrical issues
  • Provide regular insights into effective site risk management from a C&E perspective

What you’ll bring

  • An Engineering degree in either Electrical, Computing Systems, Control Systems or Mechatronics
  • Technical knowledge to effectively lead technical specialists
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, presentation & negotiation skills
  • Ability to inspire your team and create a collaborative and fun work environment.

 It will also be beneficial if you have experience with:

  • Task Management and Quality management control systems
  • Functional Safety
  • Configuration of PLC and HMI Systems
  • Switchgear Design and Maintenance
  • Arc Flash Protection
  • Reliability Engineering

Where you’ll be working

Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
