Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Position Title:  Superintendent Electrical Maintenance (OPF)

Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and Values-driven leader to join the Iron Bridge team in the capacity of Superintendent Electrical Maintenance Ore Processing Facility (OPF) . Reporting to the Maintenance OPF Manager, this key role with responsibility for Maintenance across our OPF and CHF, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan and production goals whilst enhancing team capability and employee experience.

The Superintendent Electrical Maintenance will be responsible to maintain, coordinate and develop the maintenance team to ensure that electrical maintenance at the Iron Bridge OPF and CHF is safely delivered, at or above the planned availability / reliability and within the plant.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Demonstrate strong safety values and build a proactive team safety culture
  • Developing detailed operational readiness plan for Iron Bridge wet and dry plants
  • The Superintendent will impact strategic effectiveness by ensure that they are across the business & operational strategy in order to ensure that plant electrical maintenance activities are planned and managed in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner, with a sound basis in asset management principles such as Work Management.
  • Develop a team culture of continuous improvement aligned with Fortescue's values
  • Responsibility for the weekly and day to day planning, scheduling and coordination of plant mechanical maintenance activities to ensure maximum efficiency and safety of manpower and equipment, using the relevant asset management processes
  • To be successful the Electrical Maintenance team must work closely with the other teams, in the OPF, CHF, wider operation (e.g. Engineering, Shutdowns) and business in order to ensure the plant remains reliable, with ongoing focus on consistent improvement.
  • Develop and implement a skill matrix for the team and improve the skills of the team to ensure that we meet the expectations.
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive workforce

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Proven commitment to safety
  • Demonstrated track record of problem solving and solution implementation in a multi-discipline team-based environment
  • Experience in a similar role gained in maintaining fixed plant in a field situation preferably in iron ore
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Previous shutdown and maintenance / process plant experience in mining environment
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft office and computerized maintenance management systems
  • Strong understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large scale processing plant
  • Trade background and/or Engineering qualification
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical statutory compliance
  • Commissioning experience desirable
