ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent full-time position on a 4:3 roster (Monday to Thursday), FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.  

As the Superintendent Engineering, you will be responsible for providing engineering governance and technical oversight that ensures safe, reliable, compliant operations while uniting teams to deliver high‑quality engineering outcomes.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Drive structured governance that supports sound, defensible technical decisions
• Lead ownership and improvement of engineering blueprints and structural integrity programs
• Oversee disciplined MoC processes that meet statutory and internal requirements
• Strengthen cross‑functional alignment to ensure practical, effective engineering solutions

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Leading diverse technical teams with clarity, balanced judgement and strong interpersonal skill
• Influencing decisions through clear communication and well‑structured reasoning
• Creating inclusive, accountable team environments that support continuous improvement
• Applying sound engineering judgement and strategic thinking in fast‑paced operational settings

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Recognised degree in Engineering
• Chartered Engineer or eligible for Chartered status
• Current C Class Drivers Licence
• Mining Supervisor (G1, G8, G9) qualification, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement
