About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Environment & Sustainability, you will provide leadership and direction on environmental management within the Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) asset. 

This is a high-profile role responsible for a team of environmental professionals within our Pilbara operations based on site, with flexible work options,

  • Develop and lead a strong capable team to deliver environmental support to operational and functional partners. 
  • Establish and maintain programs to manage environmental risks and environmental legal obligations across a number of the WAIO’s operations. 
  • Establish and build effective working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Develop, manage and lead continual improvement to environmental standards and processes across WAIO. 
  • Support the delivery of strategic environmental initiatives to improve management of environmental risks. 
  • Provide leadership to operational teams through coaching, mentoring and the provision of advice on environmental strategy, systems, and procedures. 
  • Actively participates in the WAIO environmental leadership team to deliver on the functional purpose and foster a high performing and connected team. 

About You

You will have demonstrated experience leading a team of professionals to deliver against set targets in the mining or similar heavy / manufacturing industry. 

You will also have: 

  • Strong engagement skills with a demonstrated capability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Tertiary degree in Environmental Management or Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Detailed working knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of environment related risks. 
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management System ISO 14001 standard and key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of environment related risks.   
  • Experience in or knowledge of environment legislative requirements relevant to the resources sector in Western Australia would also be an advantage.
