About Olympic Dam
One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operations, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities. The underground mine at Olympic Dam is one of Australia’s largest and premier underground operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Refinery Operations, this is a diverse role where you are accountable for the Electrowinning, Goldroom and Laboratory departments.
You will oversee a large team and provide insightful and influential leadership that supports engagement and success.
This role is based at Olympic Dam and can be offered as residential 5/2 or FIFO 5/2, 4/3 (with flex).
In this role you will:
- Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader by engaging, developing and coaching your team whilst ensuring an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
- Coach the teams to reinforce and sustain the BHP Operating System embedding appropriate mindsets and behaviours in our supervisors and front-line teams
- Lead and develop a team of technical and operational professionals
- Identify, build, and develop team capability through ongoing and regular coaching and development planning
- Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders internal and external to the business to ensure effective, proactively planned production
- Prepare, manage and review operating budgets for your area, as well as monitor against monthly cost drivers
About You

In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary or Trade qualification in a technical discipline
- Frontline leadership experience with large multi-functional teams
- Experience to Risk and Portfolio management
- Experience in other industries that utilise an operating systems founded on Lean principles would be highly regarded
- Demonstrated people leadership capability, with the well-developed interpersonal skills necessary to deal with the diverse range of employees
- Knowledge of 1SAP work management (or similar ERP system)
