We are looking for a Superintendent Fixed Plant Readiness to join the Operational Readiness team working on the Rhodes Ridge project that is currently in the early stages of study. This role will provide specialist operational readiness advice for the fixed plant which includes feasibility study and execution, commissioning and handover phase to facilitate and promote successful projects. You will be based at Rio Tinto’s Perth CBD offices, working Monday to Friday with ad-hoc site travel required.
You will lead, mentor, coach and develop the Fixed Plant Readiness team, including providing regular performance feedback. Provide leadership in safely executing operational readiness fixed plant activities at a site level, ensuring team performance is in line with short to medium term objectives.
Reporting to the Manager Project Readiness and Delivery, your key responsibilities will include:
- Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations
- Provide fixed plant operations expertise and project management discipline to all project stages on behalf of the business owner, to identify preparatory activities that safely deliver effective systems of work, competent people and reliable assets (including associated NPI assets)
- Contribute to the Operational Readiness Plan, schedule and budget with a focus on fixed plant and processing related aspects throughout all stages of the project
- Develop business case to justify any project inclusions or omissions improving project outcomes
- Working collaboratively and fostering relationships with other departments to achieve wider business objectives
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, able to build strong functional relationships with partners in a matrix organisation
- Participate in the definition and execution of plant operating philosophy, information management, operations and asset management strategy development and commissioning and acceptance testing
- Knowledge of project management (scoping, planning, scheduling, resource planning, and cost estimation) and project site activities and experience as member of a small to medium-sized project’s management team will be an asset.
- Understanding of organisational change management
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Tertiary qualification in a field which will compliment project readiness related activities with demonstrated experience associated to this field (Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or similar)
- Capability to write conclusive reports and create documents presenting requirements and developed plans, strategies and approaches
- Strong background in safety, people and shutdown planning, fixed plant operations and site leadership roles
- Proven ability to coach, lead change and effective decision making
- Demonstrated capability in project management (scoping, planning, scheduling, resource planning, cost estimation, variations, MOC)
- Risk management, business improvement, reporting skills essential
- Experienced in contributing to the development of a safety culture and ensuring relevant safety compliance as well as adherence to standards, processes and procedures for fixed plant and maintenance operations
- Demonstrated understanding of budget preparation, variance analysis, cost forecasting and cost drivers.
