About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Geoscience Operations, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of Geoscience operational programs in the tactical timeframes in and around our world class mine sites.
You will lead a large team of supervisors, lead technicians and technicians to enable our contribution to the WAIO outcomes working in close partnership with BHP stakeholders and contract partners.
Responsibilities within the role will include:
- Act as the escalation point and take accountability for the continuous improvement of risk management activities to effectively manage complex and material risks
- Ensure that the BHP Operating System (BOS) is reinforced and sustained and underpins how the operation is managed
- Anticipate and implement mitigation for issues impacting the compliance of geoscience operations to contract, budget and plan to minimise operational risks associated with the end-to-end execution
- Working within the mining production environment, review and interpret performance data across geoscience operational activities to implement strategic changes that enhance the prioritisation and execution of Geoscience programs inside the mining environment.
- Identify patterns in issues experienced across the development and roll out of geoscience operational plans/activities and implements solutions to optimise their execution
- Lead a high performing team, develop a results driven can do culture team that fosters a positive and inclusive environment.
About You
- Build and balance the capacity with demand of the team by coaching, providing on-time valuable feedback and leveraging strengths within the team to build capability in others, enhance team/individual performance and improve uptake on learning opportunities.
- Experience in working within a Mining operational environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical concepts to non-technical and leadership audiences.
- Stakeholder engagement skills are essential in establishing effective working relationships across multiple teams within WAIO stakeholder groups and contract partners.
- An understanding of the critical role contract partners play in the delivery of the Geoscience outcomes and genuine belief in sustainable partnerships with contractors
