About the Role

Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Resource Planning, you will be responsible for the planning and sequencing of work programs to inform the direction and sustain iron ore production for the WAIO asset. You will have regular interactions with peers across the Geoscience team (and broader business) to ensure all pieces of work are aligned and attain the right resource knowledge in time to support business critical decisions.

Your main focus would be developing the Geoscience (resource characterisation) strategic and tactical work plans from the Life of Asset through to 90 Day Plans. Beyond the five-year mine plan, work programs will sustain production within the asset by informing the preferred resource development sequence, while also providing optionality to business direction. Programs within the five-year mine plan will be designed to reduce uncertainty in the mining operations and mitigate value loss.

Additionally, this role will oversee the technical planning of programs within the team, manage the budgeting and reforecasting throughout the financial year, and the progression of early-stage projects and associated reporting. This will be achieved through managing and developing a team of technical and operational staff, setting clear direction and role-modelling the charter values. 

About You

The successful candidate should have:

  • Tertiary qualification in degree in Geoscience or Resource Engineering fields.
  • Significant leadership experience or robust understanding of planning cycles and processes within Geoscience.
  • Demonstrated people management skills. The ability coach and to foster a learning environment, actively seek and provide development opportunities for employees aligned with regular performance feedback.
  • Ability to set the team direction and create an inclusive and diverse team aimed a delivering high quality output to the business. Be able to identify knowledge gaps and opportunities for team development
  • Excellent communication skills; formal and informal, verbal and written. The ability to influence stakeholders by setting direction and providing sufficient communications to encourage buy-in and commitment at all levels.
