In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising both open pits and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.
About the role:
- Reporting to the Manager Underground Mining at Telfer Gold Mine, the Superintendent – Geotechnical Engineering will be responsible for providing safe, efficient and cost-effective operational control of Telfer’s underground geotechnical department in accordance with legal requirements and company objectives.
- They will provide leadership and operational direction to the geotechnical team, ensuring resources, capacity and capability are aligned to the work plans.
- Provide key geotechnical inputs to mine design, long-term plan, and operational decisions
- Accountable for geotechnical performance reporting and documentation, they will drive and monitor continuous improvement, while demonstrating an absolute commitment to providing a safe working environment.
- This position is structured on a 8-6 FIFO roster, flying out from Perth Airport, WA
About you
- You will have geotechnical engineering experience in underground mining operations, with exposure to Sub-Level Caving, Block Caving, or Stoping mining methods.
- You have at least 10 years’ experience in Geotechnical Engineering and are currently in or have previously held a leadership role.
- You are an effective leader and communicator, ensuring your team understand relevant operational strategies and goals, setting them KPI’s which drive accountability and reward achievement.
- You will seek to continually improve operational processes by developing and supporting your team, identifying and actively developing key personnel for career development.
- You have experience in departmental budget control, business planning and management reporting
