Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for

Reporting to the Manager – Integrated Planning, the Superintendent – Geotechnical Engineering, will be responsible for process, people and production of the required geotechnical engineering systems and outputs for the safe production from Cadia’s operating mines and surface operations, including tailings.

  • They will provide leadership, mentoring and operational direction to the geotechnical team, ensuring resources, capacity and capability are aligned to the work plans.
  • Take ownership of geotechnical engineering processes and standards as they relate to operations
  • Process safety – mitigation of major hazards across planning processes and ownership of critical controls for site material risks.
  • Strategic contributions to weekly and monthly plans, as well as quarterly and budget forecasts
  • Collaborating with several stakeholders including Integrated Planning team peers and operations managers to maximise the safe execution of Cadia’s business plans

You will also possess the following:

  • You will have geotechnical engineering experience in largescale underground mining operations, with exposure to Block Caving or Sub-Level Caving Mining methods.
  • Significant experience in Geotechnical Engineering and are currently in or have previously held a leadership role.
  • Relevant experience supervising technical staff in technical design and project management
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement - Ability to think strategically and effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • You have experience in departmental budget control, business planning and management reporting
