About BMA

BMA is Australia’s largest coal producer and supplier of seaborne metallurgical coal. BMA is owned 50:50 by BHP and Mitsubishi Development. BMA operates seven Bowen Basin mines (Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Daunia, Peak Downs, Saraji, Blackwater and Caval Ridge) and owns and operates the Hay Point Coal Terminal near Mackay.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to lead our Hay Point Port and Rail Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship Team. Engineering at BMA plays a critical role in ensuring safety and stability of each Operation. The engineering function is accountable for the validation and assurance of the integrity of the Business-Critical Equipment across all BMA Operations, the governance of the Blueprint, Setting Engineering Standards & Specifications, and Governing Management of Change.

This Hay Point based role reports to the Manager of Engineering and will help support the business in:

  • Leading the coordination and implementation of Asset level Engineering standards and specifications
  • Develop and contribute to the delivery of initiatives which support priorities for continuous improvement
  • Support and govern maintenance of the operation's blueprint (engineering standards, specifications drawings, processes, systems, and procedures)
  • Collaborate with relevant departments, suppliers, consultants, and contractors
  • Support the integrated delivery of projects to help standard engineering core processes across our operations
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems that arise to support our operations
  • Provide technical expertise for our operations
  • Leading technical input into key Engineering systems and processes

About You

As part of the Hay Point Port and Rail Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship Team within BMA the following attributes will be key to your success:

  • Tertiary and/or Post Graduate qualification in Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Certification (CPEng and/or RPEQ)
  • Technical Writing Experience
  • Supervisory and Project Management experience
  • Energy, positivity, your proactive approach and self-motivated
  • Having the willingness and vision to help shape and continually develop our Engineering function
