Health and Safety Superintendent – Green Fleet
Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli peoples.

In conjunction with Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), an exciting opportunity is now available to be part of Green Fleet Testing & Proving of Proto-type HME (Heavy Mobile Equipment) trials using hydrogen & battery power systems.
Reporting to the Decarbonisation Manager at Fortescue's Chichester Hub, you will be responsible for supporting site operations in support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality.
You will have a strong safety focus, be able to adapt to rapid change, communicate well with team members and relevant stakeholders, work with a range of departments to assist in delivering key outcomes.
The Superintendent will impact strategic effectiveness by ensuring that they are across the business & operational strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Day to day management of safety in the decarbonisation function
- Coaching management in all aspects of Health & Safety excellence
- Participating in the control of identified hazards where appropriate
- Facilitate safety investigations and implement harm minimisation strategies
- Coordinate the continuous improvement and compliance of our Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Be actively involved in the Fortescue Contractor Management Audit process
- Liaise with line management, consultants and Government bodies
- Actively participate in the implementation of the Fortescue Major Hazard Program
To be considered, the successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated Safety Lead/Superintendent experience essential
- Demonstrated people leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience in oil/gas, mining or construction will be highly regarded
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health, Health, Safety, Hygiene or equivalent post graduate qualifications
- Experience in Risk Management
- Safety Auditing qualification (Lead Auditor)
- Demonstrated experience in contractor management
- Demonstrated experience in ICAM investigations
- Strong analytical skills, data presentation and reporting skills
