About the role
We are looking for a Superintendent Health & Safety to join the Health & Safety team at Weipa. The role is accountable for the work output of a large multi-disciplinary team delivering the Health, Safety and Emergency Services functions to the Weipa Bauxite portfolio. The rapidly expanding portfolio consists of three mining and processing operations and the associated supporting infrastructure including the township of Weipa.
This role is a great opportunity for an experienced professional who will be responsible for the team's delivery of advice, planning, support and training of Health and Safety activities to the Operation. The role will also drive continuous improvement and effectively integrate health and safety activities with the day to day operations, to drive towards zero harm. Reporting to the Business Partner HSE - Weipa, you will:
- Partner with site leaders to maintain & improve safety performance
- Coordinate and Support the implementation of corporate and site health and safety initiatives.
- Drive the incident management and investigation processes to maintain their high standards.
- Undertake high level data analysis and interpretation of site safety and health trends and support site response to issues identified
- Operational control of the site Emergency Services team (professional) and the supporting Emergency Response Team (workplace volunteers).
- Overseeing and reporting on the Critical Risk Management (CRM) system and the integration of the Human Performance program into the workplace.
- Reporting to regulatory bodies for Health & safety issues on site
- Manage site preparation and execution of HSE audits / assessments
- Providing guidance and support to facilitate the delivery of health, hygiene and injury management functions.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a health and safety leadership role within the heavy industrial environment.
- Proven ability to build effective influencing relationships and provide strategic oversight over the development of complex operations.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Tertiary qualification in safety or related a field
- Experience working in a remote location.
