About the roleWe are seeking a highly adaptable and outcomes driven leader to join the Sustaining Capital team. Reporting directly to the Principal, Program Mgmt HME Delivery, as the Superintendent HME Delivery your primary purpose is to ensure the delivery of projects safely and to scope, quality, budget, and schedule by providing leadership and guidance to a team of HME Senior Advisors.

Working to the capital and operational plans, you will engage with high-level stakeholders, where your communication, leadership, and ability to influence others will enable the successful execution of onsite HME Fleet Delivery projects.

Your daily remit will be centered around project governance and project leadership. Activities will include but not be limited to:

  • Allocation of appropriate resources to cover contract management
  • Coach a team of HME Senior Advisors based in the East and West Pilbara Operations
  • Assessing project resourcing levels to meet project timelines and cost
  • Ensuring appropriate project governance is maintained across projects
  • Implementing and improving project delivery methods and standards
  • Ensuring compliance with standardised project processes and tools
  • Implements the commissioning plan in accordance with the project plan
  • Coordinates the use of the commissioning resources
  • Manages the commissioning activities to meet the required business parameters including safety performance, budget and schedule
  • Maintains relationships with key stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation, and improvement.
  • Monitors and reports the progress to plan to meet stakeholders’ needs.
  • Contributes to post commissioning lessons learned activities.

Supervises and develops the performance of the team in line with Rio Tinto’s company values, to achieve objectives

About youTo succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Proven ability in safety leadership in the mining or relevant industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, able to build strong functional relationships with partners in a complex, matrix organisation
  • Strong demonstration of project management methodologies
  • Well-developed people influencing, engagement and communication skills.
  • Proven ability for continuous improvement and effective implementation
  • Mature approach to issues and strong decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coach your team through influence
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and sound decision making in time sensitive environments

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • University degree
  • Heavy Mobile Equipment or Technology knowledge
  • Front line management or other relevant leadership development qualifications
  • Project engineering or planning experience
  • Contractor Management experience

Where you’ll be working

You will be Perth based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Central Park offices. Our wider team is spread across a combination of Perth and Pilbara sites.
