About the Role

The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who will lead a diverse team of hydrogeologist with broad responsibilities across our WAIO operations.

Reporting to the Manager Water Planning, this is a high impact leadership role in mine enablement and water stewardship which has a broad range of planning accountabilities, including:

  • The development of dewatering and surplus water management plans at the strategic, tactical and scheduling horizons that are well integrated with mine plans and considerate of water stewardship
  • Assess and optimise the hydrogeological performance of dewatering and managed aquifer recharge borefields
  • Co-ordinating the “compliance to plan” reporting of borefield operation
  • Provide input to the assessment and management of water-related geotechnical risks
  • Design drilling programs for dewatering borefields
  • Clearly communicate water management considerations for stakeholders including senior management, mine planning and environmental teams.
  • Provide input to strategic studies for the development of new mining projects and options
  • Supporting the technical and cultural leadership of Water Planning function through the Water Planning Leadership Team

About You

The successful candidate, will ideally possess the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in Geoscience, Engineering or Environmental Science, with post graduate study/qualifications in Water Management
  • Excellent hydrogeological skills, preferably applied in a mining environment with the ability to grasp technical problems, business requirements and design appropriate work programs
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without authority across various stakeholders
  • Proven experience in a leadership capacity highly regarded as this role will manage a team across various locations
