Our 1900kms of rail connects 17 mines to our four port terminals. To maintain the health of the network the Rail Network Renewals team performs civil and enabling works, formation treatments, sleeper replacement, ballast cleaning and rail steel replacement.

About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent Integrated Management Team – Rail Network Renewals  Lambert to lead a team of professional staff responsible for the detailed planning and engineering to develop a final execution methodology.. 

This role will be responsible to lead, coach and develop this team to ensure the safe and seamless delivery of project deliverables. 

You will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 

Reporting to the Manager Rail Network Renewals you will be supported in your efforts in continually seeking to improve our processes, cost efficiency, safety culture and asset reliability across the portfolio. You will be: 

  • Leading the focus on sustaining and improving a strong safety culture throughout the department. 
  • Leading and coaching a multi-disciplined team of professional staff consisting of Rail SMEs, engineers, planners and coordinators.
  • Providing safety leadership and developing team safety culture through coaching and engagement
  • Executing on project lifecycle deliverables that include. Design reviews, execution methodology plans , material and logistics, site layouts, etc.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement via team involvement in lessons learned and improving our practices. 
  • Developing approved work schedules for contract partners.

What you’ll bring 

We're looking for someone who is has a collaborative approach to solving complex problems in an environment that has time pressures. Exceptional organisation and communication skills are required to lead a multi disciplined team that works across project phases.

  • Proactive with a strong commitment in driving a safe working culture
  • Experience working in operational leadership roles and be confident in effectively leading, mentoring and coaching team members as well as interfacing with senior leaders
  • A desire to build and lead engaged teams
  • Understanding of the rail industry from both an operational and technical perspective
  • Project management knowledge and/or experience
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve safety and operational outcomes and delivery of targets

Where you’ll be working

Our four independent shipping terminals at two locations, Cape Lambert and Dampier, are managed as a single port system. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, product stockpiling and blending, and ship loading. Employees reside in Wickham which is located 1,572 km north of Perth and 13 km north of Roebourne in the Pilbara region of Western Australia with Karratha being the closest town. Wickham is a fascinating historic town boasting pristine sandy beaches and excellent fishing spots.
