About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Integrated Operations Centre, this role is accountable for leading a 24/7 team of Fleet Dispatch & Maintenance Controllers delivering world class performance to our mine site customers in Mine Control. Operating out of our state of the art remote operating centre in the Brisbane CBD and servicing our Open Cut Coal Mining Operations, the role ensures delivery of benchmark productivity in load and haul operations and asset health monitoring and management. Aligning to mine site and asset level priorities on a 24/7 basis, we seek an experienced and capable people leader with strengths in systems thinking and stakeholder management with the ability to lead and empower our team in a fast paced, complex environment where results matter.

The successful applicant will work as part of a small, high performing leadership team alongside peers both up and downstream in the supply chain. You will work back to back with a role-specific peer on a 7 on, 7 off day shift roster with 12.5hr shifts. Your passion for team work, collaboration, integrity and enterprise thinking are key to your success given the operating context of this role.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Maintaining and enhancing our risk and safety and health management systems, ensuring we maintain optimal service levels regarding safety and health management for our team and our customers
  • Creating a safe working environment where every team member is inspired and empowered to maximise their contribution aligned to the professional standards commensurate with our operating environment
  • Developing the capability of our team, benchmarking performance and embedding ways of working aligned to our BHP Operating System that demonstrates tangible continuous improvement in load and haul operations
  • Influencing stakeholders to maximise value across the supply chain through systems and routines
  • Taking a data driven approach to operational performance that ensures trade-offs are well understood, deviations are managed with clarity and purpose, and continuous improvement is prioritised, structured and delivered

About You

The successful candidate will bring

  • Proven leadership experience in a Mine Control or Load and Haul environment
  • Demonstrated enterprise leadership capability, applying systems thinking to align multiple stakeholders and value‑stream interfaces toward optimal whole‑of‑asset outcomes
  • Proven experience building capability, setting direction and fostering an engaged, high-performing team
  • Highly developed communication and engagement skills, with the ability to influence, align and build commitment across disciplines and leadership levels
  • Commercial and/or strong analytical capability with a tertiary qualification or relevant practical experience in a mining context
