About the Role
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a transformational operational leader who is energised by performance, disciplined execution, and building stable systems that deliver sustained results.
Reporting to the Manager Mining Production, you will lead the Load and Haul function at South Flank—enabling safe, reliable delivery of iron ore to the WAIO supply chain while managing one of WAIO’s largest autonomous truck fleets.
You will turn strategy into rhythm: aligning people, process, data, and technology to lift performance, strengthen frontline capability, and embed operating discipline across every shift.
Key Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Lead safety and operational performance with pace and discipline, driving step-change outcomes across safety, cost, volume, productivity, and fleet reliability
- Use high-quality productivity insights and disciplined data governance, aligned to the BHP Time Usage Model, to enable sharper decisions and stronger execution
- Solve complex operational problems at the root cause, converting risk and instability into sustainable controls, clear standards, and repeatable routines
- Deliver to supply chain commitments while continuously identifying and implementing improvement opportunities that unlock value
- Embed BOS practices as the management system for performance—creating clarity, cadence, accountability, and focus on value-adding work
- Build leadership depth by coaching Supervisors and technical teams to lift capability, ownership, and performance maturity
- Lead improvement reviews that convert frontline ideas into visible actions, measurable benefits, and sustained operating discipline
- Partner across Operations, HSE, Risk, Planning, Maintenance, and Technology to strengthen standards, remove friction, and improve end-to-end flow
- Make clear, risk-based decisions that balance short-term delivery with long-term system stability and control effectiveness
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a proven operational leader who thrives in complex, high-tempo environments. You will bring the energy to challenge the status quo, the discipline to stabilise the system, and the leadership presence to align teams around safe, reliable, and repeatable performance.
You will ideally bring:
- Demonstrated experience leading large operational teams in a comparable, performance-driven environment
- A degree qualification or equivalent experience in a related discipline, preferred but not essential
- A solutions mindset with the confidence to make decisions, remove barriers, and keep teams focused under pressure.
- A genuine passion and drive to create an inclusive workplace which is free from harassment, discrimination, and victimisation
- A strong operating-system mindset, with the ability to coach, challenge, and provide constructive feedback that lifts team performance
