About Olympic Dam

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Integrated Planning, you will lead a technically motivated and results-driven team to manage the safe and efficient transport of all final products (Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver) from Olympic Dam to market. This involves transport planning (site to port for export sales and site to the customer for domestic sales), generation of export, regulatory and sales documentation and management of all related transport contracts.

The role can be based in Adelaide or Roxby Downs, with time required in both locations to engage team members and contracting partners.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct regular Field Leadership, both onsite and at various offsite contractor facilities, to embed safety values within our daily operations.
  • Maintain a routine cadence of team engagements to ensure delivery of requirements, alignment on focus areas and continuous cultural development.
  • Liaise with BHP Operations, Planning and Marketing teams to identify and manage volume or quality schedule risks and engage on relevant safety topics.
  • Demonstrate compliance with Contract Management Framework requirements to ensure safety, delivery and cost outcomes are met on all logistics contracts.
  • Set budgets for all Surface Logistics processes, tracking compliance to budget and executing continuous improvement processes to reduce cost and improve productivity.

About You

  • Experience in an aligned role in Logistics, Maritime, Sales and Marketing or Operational Mining
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience of operational teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaborative working relationships and influence positive business outcomes.
  • Ability to consolidate and analyse information, apply judgement and reach safe and cost-effective solutions swiftly.
  • Experience in contractor management and working knowledge of BHP Integrated Contractor Management Framework.
  • Understanding of SAP as an inventory management system.
  • Continuous improvement mind-set and mature change management skillset.
  • Deep foundational leadership which supports team growth and development
