About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent Maintenance to lead, coach and develop the members of the Maintenance team at Cape Lambert. This role will be responsible for the scheduling and safe execution of maintenance at our Cape Lambert CLB operation. Your role will ensure the team is set up for success against business priorities and the seamless safe delivery of maintenance activities. You will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Manager Maintenance CLB you will be supported in your efforts in continually seeking to improve our processes, cost efficiency and asset reliability across the operation. You will be:

  • Leading the focus on sustaining and improving a strong safety culture throughout the site
  • Leading and coaching a multi-disciplined team of professionals and maintenance staff consisting of frontline supervisors, senior scheduler and Engineer, technical and trades roles
  • Leading the maintenance team to identify and manage asset risk, ensuring the right work is completed to maintain asset integrity
  • Ensuring that the maintenance scheduling function is delivered in line with Rio Tinto best practice to maximise productivity and equipment reliability
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the team in the implementation of improvement initiatives and technical advances
  • Developing, monitoring and controlling approved budget to deliver cost effective services that meet the business needs while ensuring compliance with the relevant statutory legislative provisions

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will:

  • Be passionate about providing authentic and positive people leadership and act as a natural role model at cultivating a curious mind.
  • Have a strong understanding of safe operations and safe behavior fundamentals
  • Work well under pressure while maintaining the ability to meet multiple deadlines along with demonstrated understanding of maintenance system processes.
  • Previous experience in a Superintendent position or team leadership role within the processing or mining industry
  • High level of accountability paired with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and achieve outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in driving a strong safety culture with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven track record in creating and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Manual C Class Driver’s Licence

Where you’ll be working

Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own a world-class, integrated network of 17 mines, four independent port terminals, a rail network spanning nearly 2,000 kilometres and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand.
