We are looking for a Superintendent – Maintenance Planning and Materials to lead a high-performing team responsible for maintenance planning and materials warehousing at our Yarwun operation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a maintenance leader to step into a strategic role within a large and complex refinery. Reporting to the Manager – Maintenance, you will be responsible for:
Leading and developing a team of Planners and Warehouse personnel to deliver safe, efficient and reliable outcomes
Planning and managing the maintenance budget for people, plant and materials across the site
Developing and optimising maintenance schedules to drive sustainable performance improvements
Coordinating the end-to-end supply chain process to ensure timely delivery of materials to meet operational needs
Establishing and tracking weekly, monthly and annual KPIs aligned with refinery maintenance goals
Championing a culture of safety, care and continuous improvement
Demonstrating Rio Tinto’s values of Care, Courage, and Curiosity in everything you do
What you’ll bring
A strong commitment to safety and wellbeing—for yourself and your team
Proven experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, ideally within SAP systems
Previous leadership experience in maintenance or planning teams (highly regarded but not essential)
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across all levels
A collaborative mindset and a passion for driving operational excellence and transformational change
A structured and proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
The ability to inspire and develop others, fostering a high-performance and inclusive team culture

Where you’ll be working
Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.
As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce. With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24-hour operation.
