Work Location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

Roster: 4D/3R FIFO ex Perth (Monday to Thursday) - Roster flexibility considered for the right candidate

We are seeking a highly motivated leader to join our Eliwana operations team as a Superintendent responsible for accurate and timely delivery of 2 year and 3 month mine schedules.

Reporting to the Manager Operations Planning, the successful candidate will be responsible for all medium-term design and planning activities to support and optimise production at our Eliwana mine. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders as well as the ability to articulate complex risks/opportunities to both technical and non-technical teams. Your team will be located both on site and in our Perth office, and you will be required to attend both locations to regularly engage with them.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely delivery of 2 year and 3 month mine schedules, including costing of mine plans for use in budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Optimise and deliver operational pit designs and related infrastructure designs to maximise the value to the business
  • Liaise with support functions, including Approvals, Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeology, to understand risk and opportunities to the operation
  • Assessment of mining methodology options for both cost and productivity metrics
  • Communicating options, designs and plans with relevant stakeholders, including General Managers
  • Delivering product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements and other technical guidance as require

Education and Experience: 

  • Proven experience of leading and developing engaged, empowered and efficient teams  
  • Capability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong medium-term planning skills (3 Month and 2 Year Planning), knowledge in open pit mining, preferably in iron ore and a practical approach to engineering and design problems
  • Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or similar
  • Advanced mine design knowledge & excellent analytical skills
  • A willingness and need to seek better ways to understand and develop people and always look to achieve more
