The Mine Production Planning Superintendent role sets the direction for the bauxite mining process by effectively delivering operational production plans and support which ensure budget physicals targets are safely achieved. This role will be offered on a Permanent basis.

This role is based at the Boddington Bauxite Mine located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).

Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night.

About the Role

As the Mine Production Planning Superintendent, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of mining engineers and experienced mining professionals   
  • Rigorously applying and continuing to review South32’s Risk Management policies, principles, tools and investigation methodologies to ensure our people are not exposed to illness or injury.
  • Defining the mining parameters which optimise production, efficiency and bauxite quality
  • Developing and managing mine production forecasts via the coordination of rolling mine schedules.
  • Coordinating pit optimisations and mine design activities to ensure mining production physicals are achieved in accordance with budgets and forecasts
  • Monitoring weekly and monthly mining performance, including governance for Operating Strategies and Standards
  • Setting the technical direction to improve current mining performance
  • Maintaining mine production accounting and data accuracy
  • Managing departmental budgets and contracts.

About You     

  • Degree qualified in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • Competent in the use of planning and design tools, specifically Vulcan, Deswik and XACT
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Mineral Resources and Reserves.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical information to all work groups and influence stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience leading and facilitating diverse teams in a complex mining environment.
