About BMA Goonyella

Goonyella Riverside is a large open cut coking coalmine in the Bowen Basin located 30km north of

Moranbah. Goonyella Riverside Mine utilises both Dragline and Truck & Shovel stripping methods to uncover 3 seams of coal and is processed through 2 prep plants. Pioneering autonomous haulage in open cut coal mining we are continuing to position our operation as a global leader in innovation and technology in the mining industry.

About the Role

This opportunity is located at our Goonyella Riverside Mine. We are currently looking for a Mine Services Superintendent. You will be responsible for leading a dynamic team of up to 120 employees and service contractors - including 10 Mine Services Supervisors.

Reporting to the Manager Production this position is responsible for managing a large team of operators to establish and maintain a safe and standardised mine site while interacting with multiple processes across site operations.

We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values, leadership and communication skills. Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships and your ability to consolidate and analyse information will provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.

This role will be a 5:2 roster with flexible travel arrangements. 

About You

  • Mandatory Qualifications of S1, S2, S3 & G2
  • Demonstrated people leadership and production experience at minimum Supervisor level within a Coal Mining environment, preferably to have had some exposure at Superintendent level.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, lead change and develop established teams of experienced people
  • A demonstrated ability in continuous improvements around Safety, Cost and Productivity
  • Uphold the BHP Charter Values and Code of Business Conduct and comply with our Safety and Health Management System.
  • Provide leadership and effective management of the Operations Planning team for seamless integration with execution teams; furthermore through continuous improvement, toward technical excellence.
  • Lead the identification and management of schedule risks, providing ongoing communications to relevant stakeholders and solution identification including prioritization and realignment of mine priorities.
  • Encourage and develop a collaborative relationship with operational superintendents to deliver the operational budget in accordance with changing conditions.
  • Foster a safe to speak up environment to team members to work effectively with customers to achieve the best business outcomes; and,
  • Be a safety leader, creating a culture of care through engaging, developing and coaching the Mine Services teams.
