ABOUT IMC

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal produces premium-quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent full-time position based at the Appin mine which is, near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.

As the Mine Services Superintendent you will deliver the 13-week schedule through developing and executing the weekly and 2-5-week plans for the Mine Services department. In addition, you will support the objectives and strategies of the Area Manager’s 24-month production forecast by executing the Area Improvement Plan.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Ensuring compliance to the Mine Safety Management System
• Planning for and managing the execution of outbye tasks
• Identifying and implementing critical projects required to ensure delivery of the mine physicals
• Ensuring mine execution activities are conducted safely and cost effectively by competent personnel in accordance with the relevant standards and operating procedures
• Encourage team members to drive effective hazard and risk identification, reporting and investigation to reduce incidents and injuries/illnesses
• Coaching and mentoring your team inclusive of coordinators, Deputies and operators

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Significant experience in Production or Project Execution of an underground coal mine
• Contractor management experience
• Ability to effectively communicate and influence across various levels of the business
• Demonstrated ability to select, coach and mentor employees resulting in improved engagement, diversity and organisational capability

Qualifications for this position are:

• Tertiary qualifications in relevant field
• Diploma of Underground Mine Management
• Second Class Certificate of Competence
• Frontline management qualification
