We are looking for a Superintendent Mining Readiness to join the Rhodes Ridge Operational Readiness team. This role will provide specialist operational readiness advice and support which includes study phases, execution, commissioning and handover to facilitate and promote successful projects. You will be based at Rio Tinto’s Perth CBD offices, working Monday to Friday with ad-hoc site travel required.
The role contributes at a tactical level to the design of operational readiness processes, practices and tools to improve performance and facilitate the application of governance processes for leading practice across the project within the Operational Readiness team, with an emphasis on all mining operation processes.
Reporting to the Manager project Readiness and Delivery, your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage mining readiness activities to maximise productivity while minimising cost and environmental impact
- Contribute to the Operational Readiness Plan, schedule and budget with a focus on mining related aspects throughout all stages of the project
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
- Develop business case to justify any project inclusions or omissions improving project outcomes
- Contribute to the Operational Readiness Plan, schedule and budget with a focus on mining related aspects throughout all stages of the project
- Support the mining readiness program with all mining related projects handed over so operations meet ramp up and planned processing and extraction rates
- Ensure compliance to relative legislation, including statutory obligations
- Working collaboratively and fostering relationships with other departments to achieve wider business objectives
- Take a leading role in detailed design and risk reviews for operability, maintainability and reliability, influencing and facilitating operations involvement to achieve project outcomes supporting a smooth handover
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Proven ability to coach, lead change and effective decision making
- Tertiary qualification in a field which will compliment project readiness related activities with demonstrated experience associated to this field (mining engineering, surveying, geology or similar)
- Demonstrated capability in project management (scoping, planning, scheduling, resource planning, cost estimation, variations, MOC)
- Risk management, business improvement, reporting skills
- Experienced in contributing to the development of a safety culture and ensuring relevant safety compliance as well as adherence to standards, processes and procedures for mining, drill & blast, mine water management, production engineering and site services operations
- Coaching, leading change, effective decision making
- An understanding of budget preparation, variance analysis, cost forecasting and cost drivers.
