Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Mining Services Superintendent to join the Underground Mining Management team at the Perth Head Office. Reporting to the Underground Services Manager, this role supports the manager to oversee supervision of maintenance work according to agreed plan, while maintaining a healthy & safe working environment with the prime objective of ensuring that the mechanical and equipment’s availability targets are achieved.
Located at the Airport (T1/T2) the Perth office boasts a staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- To coordinate and supervise the maintenance works (mobile and fixed mechanical equipment) to provide effective responses to unscheduled repairs or breakdowns while liaising with operations
- To liaise with Maintenance Manager in order to coordinate repairing/overhauling for planned maintenance on equipment and in order to optimize workable time, assist to develop budgeted costs and to minimize turn-around time of each maintenance event
- To liaise with the Maintenance Manager Underground to coordinate plant, spares and consumables required for Mobilisation to new projects
- To enforce safe and environmentally friendly working procedures in order to ensure the excellent safety record and encourage employee participation in health and safety matters in order to comply with statutory requirements and HSE expectation
- To keep updated on the latest technical developments from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in order to be advised on any technical problem that arise from the use of project equipment
- Manage and update Plant build lists.
- Be responsible for driving the maintenance implementation amongst the operations, maintenance and procurement departments
- To consolidate reports from subordinates to produce effective back-log plant asset management plan and implementation in order to ensure the accurate presentation of daily, weekly and monthly reports
- To perform knowledge sharing in order to enhance the professional development within the organization
- Liaise with operational departments to achieve optimal standards to plant reliability & availability in terms of priority setting
- Develop critical spares list to ensure best achievable availability of plant
- Ensure optimum equipment availability is achieved subject to prevailing site conditions without compromising safety
- Identify non-conformances to KPIs resulting from repeat contributing factors and liaise with required stakeholder’s to develop and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
- Ensure weekly, daily plans and KPI’s are understood
Qualifications and attributes
- Trade certificate
- Extensive knowledge upon practical application of mechanical/electrical/heavy mobile equipment’s & safety legal requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in plant maintenance (with 2-3 in a supervisory role preferable)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Driver’s License (manual)
- Experience using SAP
- High knowledge base of Drill maintenance & systems, RCS electrics & hydraulics
- Ability to travel regularly to the Drill operating sites to provide support
- Demonstrated verbal & written communication
- Detailed Knowledge of the mining & safety regulations
- A can do attitude with strong desire to succeed in the role
