ABOUT Cannington

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. Cannington mine provides on-site accommodation including meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the team of Maintenance execution supervisors and technicians. Ensuring maintenance activities are performed to meet statutory & legislative requirements and Cannington standards.  

This role will be permanent on a 4/3, 4/3, 8/6 FIFO roster from Townsville or Brisbane.

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

Leadership:

• Work safely and align with the South 32 Care Strategy
• Complete field verifications of high-risk tasks
• Take accountability for the performance of the team, promoting a culture of inclusion and feedback.
• Conduct regular coaching sessions with the direct reports to identify areas for improvement and recognise areas of excellence
• Manage individual and team performance
• Ensure discipline is maintained in department (Absenteeism, Time Management, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
• Actively pursue opportunities to reduce operating costs and increase productivity through the application of policies and procedures, business systems, human and financial resources.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with all internal and external departments

Technical:

• Ensure Maintenance Management System (1SAP) workflow management is followed to enable safe work practices to minimize the risk associated with the working environment to employees and contractors, and to comply with statutory obligations.
• Coordination of priorities of Supervisors to ensure workflow processes are maintained to enable mobile equipment availability to run at optimal levels.
• Identify fatal risk tasks, high interaction areas and develop plans / schedules to mitigate these risks
• Coordinate improvements to the mobile equipment maintenance planning processes
• Active ownership of the development of the yearly mobile equipment budgets and analyse and address variance throughout the year
• Accountable for the execution, cost control and the safe delivery of all mobile equipment maintenance activities
• Ensure all requirements of the maintenance plan are achieved within budget and forecast timetables are adhered to and accurate.
• Ensure that data entry in the maintenance management system is maintained to Cannington standards and procedures.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent experience with Trade Qualification
• Exposure to Business Improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean etc.)
• 10yrs years’ experience in mining or heavy industrial environment (highly regarded but not essential)
• 5yrs experience preferably in Maintenance of Mobile equipment
• Experience in CMMS systems
• Experience in the supervision of team
