About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Engineering, the Superintendent Modifications and Small Projects will lead a high-performance team focused on the safe and effective delivery of the projects portfolio. You will focus on developing both the team and the overall capability of the Engineering function onsite while working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for the business.

Opportunities are available at mine and infrastructure sites within the Bowen Basin located near Moranbah, Central Queensland. A Lifestyle roster and flexible travel options including Commute (from Brisbane or regional Queensland) or residential are available.

You will be required to:

  • Leading a culture of care through visible safety leadership and an uncompromising commitment to health, safety and the environment;
  • Lead, coach and mentor the team to ensure opportunities are realised and supported;
  • Ensure effective project controls for Safety, Cost and Schedule are in place in order to develop, communicate and execute project work plans and allocation of resources;
  • Build mutually beneficial cross functional relationships to support delivery of the portfolio and site business plan;
  • Overall accountability for development and delivery of the 5 year budget, focusing on identification and prioritisation of projects which provide the greatest value to site and align with the business plan;
  • Identification and delivery of improvement opportunities in terms of Safety, Culture and Productivity; and
  • Provide effective contractor and vendor management in line with site and BHP Processes.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be an effective leader and a collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously.

Strong interpersonal skills are essential, allowing you to influence while also enabling you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels.

You should have a detailed understanding of project management and engineering principles, standards and processes.

You will need to be tertiary qualified in Engineering or have equivalent trade and industry experience to support the technical requirements of the role.

Results will be achieved through strong people management and long-term development of individuals in your team. You will have proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

You should also have a strong commercial acumen including, contract management, financial assessment and investment review and justification.

Previous experience working within a mining environment or heavy industry would be highly regarded.
