About the Role

As a Superintendent Modifications and Operational Projects (MOPs) team you will provide leadership to the team that engineering project management capability to execute and deliver projects in accordance with the BHP Small Projects Management Framework, relevant site standards and approved performance targets (HSE, cost, quality, schedule).

Success in this role will be achieved through engagement with BHP stakeholders, external design consultants, construction contractors and materials suppliers.  

This position is based in the Pilbara and can be offered as a FIFO or residential option.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by actively engaging in the BHP Field Leadership program
  • Promote and coach operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical knowledge of team members
  • Provide oversight and support to your team to successfully deliver on projects within WAIO
  • Effectively engage with internal and external parties to ensure that pathways are provided for success
  • Provide inputs into plans, budgets, and targets for the projects and ensure delivery against them
  • Manage the planning, safe execution, and commissioning of packages according to agreed scope, budget, schedule, and relevant standards and specifications
  • Provide support and management to our contractors
  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Regularly liaise with other project and engineering teams and operational functions across WAIO to provide sharing of knowledge and aid continual improvement in project delivery

About You

Ideally you will be a degree qualified engineer with project management and experience within an operating environment. You will have a proven collaborative style with a key focus on strong team performance, stakeholder engagement and reliable delivery of value to the operation.

You will ideally be able to demonstrate:

  • Degree in Engineering or trade qualifications
  • Demonstrated full-lifecycle project management experience
  • Ability to collaborate with others and to communicate and engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Commercial acumen including, contract management, financial assessment and investment review and justification
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Deep foundational leadership which supports team growth and development
