About the Role

As a Superintendent Modular , SIMS (Structural Integrity Management System) and Workshop,  you will lead the onsite  maintenance teams to ensure safe execution of maintenance activities for the fixed plant assets. You will guide the team through Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) work strategies to improve required plant availability.

Responsibilities in this role you will include: 

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to safety by actively engaging in the BHP Field Leadership program
  • Promoting and coaching operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical knowledge of team members.
  • Effectively engaging with internal and external parties to ensure that pathways are provided for success.
  • Providing inputs into plans, budgets, and targets and ensure delivery against them.
  • Collaborating with the supply function to engage contractors, suppliers and vendors and ensure safe provision of maintenance services.

About You

Ideally you will be a degree qualified engineer or relevant trade qualifications  with demonstrated experience leading multi discipline maintenance teams in an operational environment. In addition, you will have a proven collaborative style with a key focus on strong team performance, stakeholder engagement and reliable delivery of value to the operation.

 You will ideally also be able to demonstrate:

  • Degree in Engineering or trade qualifications
  • A proven track record of safety management
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to collaborate and engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement
  • Experience in a large scale materials handling or ore processing operation preferred
  • Experience in Reliability Centred Maintenance program implementation will be beneficial

Location

With this role you have the choice of either being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a 5/2/4/3 roster. You will be working at ‘Mount Whaleback’ mine site, which at more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.
