About the role

This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

Your two primary areas of responsibility are to ensure accurate and effective planning of mining and maintenance activities and ensure shift Undermanager’s execute safe and effective delivery of the plan.

Key accountabilities:

• Provide frontline leadership to underground workgroups to ensure compliance and safety requirements are being met while focusing on delivery of plan execution
• Monitor Undermanager’s shift performance against plan whilst ensuring statutory compliance with current mining legislation and the site Safety Management System
• Ensure interactions between workgroups are addressed at planning meetings prior to delivery of the plan to Undermanager’s
• Attend daily, weekly, and medium/long term planning meetings to ensure planned activities are deliverable against compliance, scheduling, and workgroup interactions
• Identify outstanding remedial actions from shift reports and ensures Undermanager’s forward requirements for rectification to appropriate Managers and Superintendents
• Coach and mentor direct reports in effective leadership and accountability

To be considered for the role, you will have:

• Statutory Qualification
• 2nd Class Certificate (Undermanager’s)
• Significant experience as an undermanager, superintendent or higher in an underground coal mine
• Exceptional safety leadership with an ability to identify and eliminate hazards in the workplace
• Ability to develop, coach and mentor employees to improve engagement, diversity, and capability
• Understanding of project controls, including estimation, planning/scheduling, cost control, change management, risk management and lessons learnt implementation
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and the ability to influence across various levels of the business

Location

This position will be based at the Appin mine which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
