About the Role
This is an interesting opportunity working Mon-Fri and offering a flexible work arrangement with the ability to work from home as required.
The Operations Systems team, within the Technology Minerals Australia Engineering function, provide Technical governance and design authority for BHPs Mining Execution Systems (MES) and Operational Data Platforms. This role provides leadership for a team focused on the production, development and management of mining execution systems in line with business requirements. This role also translates strategy into operational plans for our remote operations teams and assets.
Reporting to the Manager Operations Systems, your key accountabilities will include:
- Define, lead and coach core routines including Performance review, Continuous Improvement, safety activities and problem solving
- Plan and coach regular impact analysis and health review of applications within the Operations Systems domain working closely with Run support teams and Project Delivery teams
- Lead initiatives that identify direction of change for the Operations Systems landscape
- Provide input into LoA and upstream processes that identify and prioritise initiatives for the future linked to an overarching strategy and roadmaps.
- Identify where new platforms and capability can be employed to accelerate, reduce risk or otherwise add value in the Operations Systems domain
- Maintain the standards for Systems in the Operations Systems domain – and apply these through engagement with directional, delivery and operations teams as well as vendors
- Provide oversight, diligence and field leadership for initiatives implementing solutions within the Operations Systems domain
- Develop strong relationships with other BHP teams, service partners, and vendors
- Support a culture of continuous improvement across people, process, technology and cost.
About You
The successful candidate will have relevant experience in a DevOps or Manufacturing Execution Systems role. Your detailed analytical skills including solid governance, business and financial acumen will ensure success in this role. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across operations and functions and across all organisational levels.
To be successful you will demonstrate the following:
- Quantified experience in enabling sustainable change outcomes for Technology in an operating business.
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Engineering discipline or another related area
- Experience with ISA-95 Level 3 Manufacturing Operations Management systems / MES and practical application within the Mining / Resources industry
- Ability to deal with complexity and distil key issues with excellent analytical skills.
- Be a thought leader with the ability to connect the dots and work with ambiguity.
- Be able to connect strategy to action, and lead a team accordingly.
- Experience working within a global, or remote team.
- Familiarity across standard computer software practices including development and vendor (COT’s) assessment methodologies is essential.
- Experience in transforming the defined set of business requirements into a set of system and sub-system requirements specifications.
- Knowledge of Engineering principles and Test and Evaluation methodology.
- Experience supporting and guiding technical teams.
- Demonstrated solution stewardship on technically complex projects would be considered highly beneficial.
