We are looking for a Superintendent Parker Point Operations to join the Dampier Operations team. The Dampier Operation is a significant contributor to overall shipped tonnes for Rio Tinto Iron Ore. This person will be accountable for ensuring the wider group is set-up for success in line with business priorities and the seamless safe delivery of operational activities.

Reporting to the Manager Operations, Dampier Ports you will be supported in your efforts in continually seeking to improve our processes, cost efficiency and productive capability across the operation. Your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Actively engaging and influencing the wider teams to improve the site’s safety, cost, and production outcomes
  • Leading the focus on sustaining and improving a strong safety culture throughout the site
  • Developing capability within our frontline leaders
  • Leading and coaching a multi-disciplined team of professionals and operational team members consisting of frontline supervisors, technical and frontline operational roles
  • Ensuring that the plan is executed seamlessly, and teams are clear on the priorities
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the team in the implementation of data driven improvement initiatives
  • Developing, monitoring and controlling approved budget to deliver cost effective services that meet the business needs while ensuring compliance with the relevant statutory legislative provisions

Where you’ll be working

Our Dampier port facilities consist of 2 shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.

  • A visionary leader who can engage, influence, coach and motivate both your immediate team and your wider stakeholder group
  • Prior cost management knowledge
  • Be resilient, proactive, and pragmatic with the ability to drive progress and change within a dynamic environment
  • Input into strategies to get more operating time out of the asset
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
