About the role

We are looking for a Planning & Productivity Superintendent to oversee the planning and productivity projects for the Rail Network Maintenance department. The key success to this position will be the applicant’s ability to manage multiple resources/requests, exercise sound decision-making, and deliver planned work to the committed timeframes. The Railway Network is a critical asset to the supply chain and the Superintendent Planning role has the opportunity to make significant inroads into the performance of the assets and it’s operational practices.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to draw on your people leadership skills, harnessed with your technical knowledge to positively develop and support your team, whilst fostering an inclusive and positive team culture. Reporting to the Manager – Rail Network Maintenance, and working a desirable 5/2, 4/3 Residential or FIFO roster, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, coaching and developing the planning and productivity teams
  • Leading interface between RTIO Rail Logistics & Optimisation, Integrated Operations & Scheduling, Rail Maintenance Excellence and Rail Maintenance execution teams
  • Producing weekly maintenance schedules which are practical, with all obligations identified, accurate timelines and all necessary materials and equipment available, which includes coordination with the warehouse team for delivery
  • Participation in Zero Based Budget development
  • Manage reports, budgets, resources and drive cost savings
  • Work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the organisation to identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Key stakeholder in quarterly rail planning and network obstruction access and integration strategies

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A strong safety mindset
  • Minimum of 6 years planning and scheduling experience
  • Experience using SAP CMMS system
  • Understanding of maintenance work management processes
  • Significant experience managing teams
  • Ability to identify and project manage improvement opportunities and to build, promote and encourage a “step-up” culture within the department
  • Exposure to financial management and operational budgets
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)
  • Valid Driver’s License

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience in project management
  • Formal frontline leadership qualifications

Where you’ll be working

You will be based in the heart of coastal town Karratha and operating out of the close by town of Dampier. Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
