About the role

Join our inclusive Fixed Plant MP&E & Operational Execution function here at Rio Tinto, where you will lead, connect, direct, and support a team of professionals including providing regular performance feedback. In this exciting role, your main focus will be leadership in safety, planning, scheduling, and engineering maintenance activities at a site level, ensuring team performance is in line with short to medium term objectives.

As the MP&E Fixed Plant Planning Superintendent (Regional), you will be reporting to the MP&E Manager and you will be responsible for :

  • Lead, coach, & develop FXP Planning & Scheduling team

  • Contribute to SMM work plan and execution

  • Define staffing and development needs of MP&E

  • Governance and supervision of Work & Shut management

  • Define and input QFP parameters for site

  • Participate in input process of MTS APDF

  • Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties

  • Financial management of ZBB, Capex and Opex budgets and forecasting

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices

  • Asset Management and Strategic Asset Management Improvement Plans are maintained

  • Risk management including Risk and Assurance Forum (RaAF), Asset Integrity Assessment (AIA), and Critical Risk Assessment (CRA)

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: 

  • Strong background in safety and people leadership roles

  • Demonstrate capability in coaching, leading change and effective decision making

  • Good time & team performance management is critical

  • Collaboratively enable effectiveness to safely optimise productivity, build organisational excellence, capability and improvement

  • Strong background in Work Management & Shutdown Management.

  • Demonstrate understanding Financial Management

  • Preference is to have reasonable systems knowledge: e.g SAP, Prometheus, Enablon, & other

  • Degree in mechanical/electrical/metallurgy or process engineering or equivalent (desired)

  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver's License (Manual)

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team 

  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset

This role is being offered on a 5/2 -4/3 roster (9 day fortnight), FIFO from Perth to Hope Downs 1.

Located 100km north-west of Newman, Hope Downs 1 is a joint venture managed and operated by Rio Tinto, working in conjunction with nearby site Hope Downs 4.  Hope Downs 1 provides exceptional career growth and opportunities and the village provides excellent facilities for its FIFO workers.
