About the role

Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a motivated Superintendent Planning -Long Term accountable for leading and supporting a team of professionals responsible for the long-term planning of drilling operations and other key enablers of drill programs, within the broader Resource Development Planning team.

We’ll support and empower you to challenge yourself, learn from others, share your own ideas freely and achieve excellence in strategic and leadership outcomes.

You’ll manage your own team of professionals, and work with key stakeholders across Resource Development, developing a long term planning strategy.

Reporting to the Manager Planning, you will also be responsible for:

  • Developing your team’s capability through ongoing coaching and mentoring, structured training, and support.

  • Owning, standardising and driving continuous improvement of our long term planning standards and working collaboratively to benchmark and adopt best practices.

  • Maintaining robust and timely collaboration between the different technical disciplines as well as sustaining capital, approvals and heritage teams to support the delivery of drill programs that support studies and sustain mines. 

  • Planning and supervising the work of your professional team to develop long term drill plans and other enabling plans to support drill programs over the years. 

  • Demonstrating the Rio Tinto values of courage, care, and curiosity.

Your success in this role will be greatly assisted by:

  • Prior experience in a similar role, with proven team leadership capability.

  • Well-developed problem-solving capability and drive for continuous improvement.

  • Working collaboratively with all stakeholders to plan and enable drilling programs over a 10 year period.

  • Ensuring critical communication of milestones for plan inputs & delivery occurs as well as governs process followed by all technical teams. 

  • Ensuring the integrated schedule is updated, maintained and handed over to Short Term Planning & Scheduling through the annual plan process.

  • Proven experience in Arc GIS and Primavera P6

  • Your ability to identify trends, underlying business impacts and present information in a clear, compelling manner

Where you will be working

You and your team will be Perth based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Central Park offices. Our wider team is spread across a combination of Perth and Pilbara Resource Development sites.
