Our Opportunity

 

Join Fortescue in a key operational senior leadership role supporting the safe optimisation and safeguarding of metallurgical performance across our Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek Ore Processing Facilities (OPFs).

 

 

As Superintendent – Process Engineering, you will lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical specialists responsible for technical service delivery, plant performance and product quality, laboratory and data integrity, workforce capability, compliance, and delivery of the Process Engineering business plan and technical roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and mentor the Process Engineering team, supporting succession planning, capability development and career progression.
  • Drive safe, accountable and inclusive ways of working, with a strong focus on risk management.
  • Build effective relationships across departments and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support achievement of operational KPIs and broader business outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership and assurance across plant performance, product quality and metallurgical performance.
  • Lead structured problem solving, technical investigations and continuous improvement activities.
  • Balance competing operational and improvement priorities in a dynamic operating environment.

Qualifications and Experience

 

 

  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams, including coaching, development and performance management at senior leader level capacity
  • Extensive knowledge of dry and wet mineral processing unit operations and operating philosophies.
  • Strong knowledge of iron ore processing, including DSO and beneficiation applications.
  • Strong understanding of process plant operations, metallurgical accounting, mass balancing and production reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical test work, sampling theory, laboratory operations and QA/QC requirements.
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Western Australian mining safety legislation, statutory supervision requirements and site safety management systems.
  • Experience with plant investigations, trials, commissioning or operational improvement projects, contractor supervision, process control and digital optimisation applications, and SAP or operational performance systems will be highly regarded.

 

 

Qualifications and requirements

You will hold a tertiary qualification in chemical, process or metallurgical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

A relevant statutory supervisor qualification and appointment eligibility is mandatory. Radiation (fixed gauge) training is desirable.
