About the role
We are looking for a motivated and engaging individual to lead a high-performance team, critical to the success of Rio Tinto's Iron Ore business. Based in the Cape Lambert port facility, the Superintendent Technical & Process will lead the Laboratory and Metallurgical team, to ensure the utmost standards of quality across all sampling and processing activities.
Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
Through leading an established and highly capable team, the Superintendent Technical & Process will ensure that daily KPIs are safely and consistently achieved. By fostering and driving an inclusive and high-performance culture, inload and outload teams will be effectively supported, enabling them to achieve month supply targets.
Your daily remit will include but not be limited to:
- Actively promote safety awareness, safe work practices and compliance with safety management plans.
- Ensuring all Laboratory activities are undertaken in-line with the relevant site safety, environmental, statutory and any other governing body requirements.
- Ensuring ISO compliance of the laboratory is maintained, allowing the team to meet and exceed established Service Level Agreements for the delivery of Lab results.
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and facilitating the changes required to achieve sustainable process improvements.
- Preparing, managing, and reviewing operating budgets to achieve business outcomes.
- Coaching and developing team members through the clear definition of performance expectations, the conduct of on-going appraisals and implementing corrective and improvement initiatives in accordance with Rio Tinto Iron Ore policy.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A Manual C Class driver's license
- Experience in the mining sector focusing on material processing or laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated project management or process improvement experience
- Previous experience in both operational and technical aspects of Fixed Plant operations is desired
- Experience leading multi-disciplined operation teams
- Experience in operational roles
- Front line management or other relevant leadership development qualifications
