ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Domestic relocation assistance to Darwin or Cairns from anywhere in Australia is provided.

As the Superintendent Processing, you are responsible for the Concentrator, Laboratory and Tailings facility operation. You will ensure efficient production maximising recovery of manganese while adhering to safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Implement best practice in processing and operational techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to enhance productivity, minimise operational costs, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Coordinators, Supervisors and operations team members, fostering a culture of safety and team work.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processing efficiency, product quality, and recovery rates.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have demonstrated capability in the following:

  • Leadership of multidiscipline team demonstrating improvement of performance over time
  • Solid experience working in a Metallurgical/Process Engineering function.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence across various levels of the business.
  • A passion for developing, coaching and mentoring employees resulting in improved engagement, diversity and organisational capability.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Science or Engineering
