About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent Production to lead our Dampier Salt team to achieve safety, production and quality targets which will drive maximum profitability for the entire operation.

This role is a great opportunity for an individual who can develop and communicate production planning on a daily basis. Reporting to the Manager Operations Port Hedland, you will be:

  • Monitoring production to ensure that sufficient volumes of stock are available to meet shipping requirements and assisting the quality function to meet customer quality requirements
  • Lead multiskilled operations team across a variety of disciplines including; salt harvesting, stockpile management, ship loading, dry haul operations, wash plant, and civils maintenance
  • Organising people and processes to meet production targets
  • Managing costs within the production area to ensure budget targets are met and cost saving initiatives are identified and implemented
  • Coordinating the Production, Shipping and General Works functions, whilst providing leadership to the Production and General Works Supervisors
  • Ensuring that all ship loading activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner
  • Implementing and sustaining systems to enhance production and shipping activities to ensure timely delivery of quality product

About youTo be successfully in this role you will have: 

  • Proven safety leadership skills, and a successful track record in managing large teams of varying specialties
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and coach team members
  • Capacity to create, source and manage data to effectively guide operational strategy and daily decision making
  • Work collaboratively with peer group to ensure organisational value is maximised
  • Demonstrated production process aptitude
  • Highly developed understanding of mining techniques and processes
  • Demonstrated capacity to personally influence workplace culture
  • Embody, value, and lead our teams to building everyday respect in everything we do
  • Practical working knowledge of the MSIA and regulations
  • Manual Australian 'C' Class Driver's license

Where you will be working

Dampier Salt Limited (DSL), located in Western Australia and comprising three solar operations – Dampier, Port Hedland and Lake MacLeod – is the world’s largest exporter of seaborne salt, with capacity to produce approximately 10.3 million tonnes every year.

At our Lake MacLeod operations, we also mine and export gypsum to customers in Australia and Southeast Asia.
